Your Purpose = Growth, Joy, Freedom, Expansion
The concept of purpose has been speaking to me lately. So OFC, you know my ass is going to write about exactly that.
This all stems from me being neck deep in studying astrology lately, which talks a lot about how our lives are woven into the universe the moment we’re born.
This reveals patterns about your life, depending on the time and place you were born.
The universe has an intelligence we can’t comprehend guys. It just boggles my mind!
The sun sets without our intervention, nature follows a sacred geometry, timing is always ON POINT, seasons fucking just do their thing, and there are things we just cannot explain happening in the cosmos at this moment and somehow Earth is still spinning uninterrupted?
Yeah, I definitely am a believer that nothing is on accident, and this universal intelligence had a framework for you when you were born.
But TBH, I didn’t always believe in purpose.
When I was growing up, I was a pretty traumatized, disconnected, checked out kid and for a long time, I attributed that to genetics and my environment.
My parents gave me the genes for disconnection and trauma activated them.
My environment only served to keep them activated.
But as I grew to heal all this maladaptive crap trauma activated in me, I started to reconnect with myself again and something happened.
I started to understand that my quest for healing was legit just a quest for purpose.
Because we are addicted as a species to our coping mechanisms, low self esteem and limiting beliefs, most of us aren’t really in tune with our true callings, passions, and purpose for being here.
When most people want to “get better” or have an amazing life or feel fulfilled on their deathbed, I think what they mean is they just want to have fulfilled their purpose.
So WTF is purpose anyways?
Naturally I went on Dr. Googles and this is what it says:
pur·pose
noun
The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
Often with definitions on Google I always feel like I have shit to say about them but I think this one is pretty decent. 😆
The only thing I’d change is, it isn’t ONE reason for which you exist.
There are endless reasons and you wouldn’t know about all of them.
You might’ve influenced someone else in a way you’d never know about just by walking down the street and never speaking a word to them!
A lot of people may feel their purpose to be singular, like “to be a good parent”, “to be a doctor”, or “to figure out my career”.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
These are amazing aspirations to experience in life, but I don’t think purpose is just one thing like “being a doctor”.
From all the work I’ve done over the last 5 years and counting, this is what I’ve inferred purpose is (you decide if it resonates for you):
What I believe everyone’s purpose to be, is to come to Earth and experience the world through their own unique lens, which causes them to grow and their soul to expand, making the universe that much bigger.
Your growth is your purpose. No one like you will ever exist again or live your exact life. And I think the universe definitely wants you to add your experience to the pie.
I am also in the “Abraham Hicks” camp which says life is about learning how to manifest joy, and the resulting experience is freedom.
I know… It’s a lot.
But if you’re down with the woo-woo, this might make perfect sense.
Your purpose = growth, joy, freedom, expansion.
It makes sense that the definition of purpose would be so loose and open: Humans were not made to just do one thing or be one thing that that’s it.
We are part of a very complex universe so it shouldn’t surprise you that we human are complicated too. Humans don’t do well in boxes. 😂
I also consider everything about you (as a personality) to be purposeful, too.
Why?
Because your entire personality, is PERFECTLY SUITED for whatever UNIQUE thoughts you have, dreams you dream, and even the lessons you have to learn.
What things you obtain joy from is uniquely suited to who you are.
There is a reason we weren’t all born exactly the same, with the same personalities, genders, goals, and struggles.
The universe doesn’t want anything other than YOU to be YOU; The goal is growth, joy, freedom and expansion of YOU. So it purposefully made you that way.
I believe you came into this Earth with a set of archetypal behaviors, skills, traits, etc. that make you perfectly suited to fulfill whatever things you are supposed to fulfill.
And if you feel like you’re not there and don’t have the qualities for what you want to achieve in your life, don’t despair.
That is on purpose too. 😉
Part of your purpose is growing through your wounds and maladaptive shit so you can experience joy and freedom in the unique way your life will give.
After understanding that I was put here to grow, expand, find freedom and joy, the definition of purpose opened me up to no longer looking for that job title or the perfect career — Instead I began to welcome in all kinds of experiences I wanted to have.
I stopped pigeonholing myself into one path in life, and began to follow a bucket list of ALL the paths I wanted.
This definition of purpose feels limitless and good to me, which is what I challenge you to explore:
When it comes to spirituality, there is no right or wrong, only what works for you.
What definition about purpose gives you the highest degree of freedom and helps you achieve the experience you want out of life?
Believe in the thing that is going to empower you, not limit it.
