Mercury Retrograde 04/2024: Let's Do Nothing for a While

In preparation for Mercury Retrograde #1 of this year...

I wanted to propose a toast to those moments when you know what you have to do... but you don't do it.

Those days when we literally feel like this dude ⬇️

Those parts of you that don't want to do anything?

They deserve love an acceptance too.

And if you feel "static" in the air, it is because we are 3 days into a Mercury Retrograde at the release of this letter.

Now, I have already written an entire article on Mercury Retrograde here.

Take a look at it if you're wondering what that even is.

But this time, I just wanted to honor those aimless parts that may pop their heads up during Mercury Retrograde and throw us into self-judgement spirals.

In summary, Mercury is the governor of these themes:

When it is Retrograde, these themes in our lives kinda go out the window.

Mercury Retrograde may be a time of the year when your logic brain just wants to turn off.

Suddenly you may notice that you don't really want to think all that hard.

Maybe you feel a bit more reserved and introspective.

Maybe you feel like you need to take a step back from absorbing information and actually just EXIST for once.

Maybe you just want to take all your responsibilities and bury them for 3 weeks.

Maybe you're taking some time off a big project.

Maybe a part of you just NEEDS A BREAK.

It is all ok, I promise.

If there is one thing I am constantly learning, it is this:

It doesn't have to be a big deal if you are not in the "mood" to do some things.

Unlearning this rat-race conditioning of "logic all the time" will heal your soul.

This is especially notable if you're a perfectionist like yours truly:

I see Mercury Retrograde as a well earned time to stop the cycle and get back to myself.

Mercury Retrograde is a normal part of life that forces us to get comfortable with the feeling of doing NOTHING for a while.

This is something most of us are not all that comfortable doing.

Everything in nature has it's balance and this time of year is exactly that: Nature telling you to chill the F out after chasing your tail all the time.

Take some time to just take it all in.

Like actually look at your life and the things you're building.

Don't push what isn't happening.

Otherwise, you end up looking like this guy:

Clinging on when you probably dont have to.

I have already been feeling the effects of Mercury Retrograde.

For myself, it comes on as a feeling of wanting to space out my schedule, create room for relaxation, prayer, meditation, and reconnecting with myself.

I hope it helps you-- Please reach out and email me for any comments or feedback!
