How to Release Karmic Debts

If you were given the opportunity to redo your childhood knowing the person you are now, would you keep things the same as they were or change them?

6 years ago, I would've opted to change them in a heartbeat.

That was before I understood the laws of Karma aka life lessons our circumstances are intended to help us learn.

If you would change your childhood, chances are you haven't learned the lesson behind it: the reason your soul chose that situation in the first place.

If you look at your past circumstances with disgust, resentment, denial or anything outside of forgiveness and acceptance, then these circumstances are bound to repeat themselves in other ways, whether that be the partner you choose, the life you limit yourself to or with your children.

If there is any fear, any repulsion, any blame of others, then you can be sure your Karma isn't cleared and this pattern will be coming back again.

The lessons were not learned which means your Karma isn't complete.

And BTW, none of this happens on a thought level; It all has to happen at the emotional level or the energetic level: The language of the Universe.

If you continue to energetically put out resentment, rumination, regret, anger, hostility towards your history, this ensures you'll only get more of this in your future.

It is the Universe's alchemical process.

For example, let's say you experienced sexual abuse in your childhood in this life.

From an energetic standpoint, if the work has not been done to heal from these hardships, there will come other situations that force you into opportunities to heal those wounds AGAIN, as that is how the Universe works: Like attracts like, thus keeping you in this cycle.

So if you developed the belief that you cannot trust anyone ever again because of these past experiences, perhaps your journey continues to reveal untrustworthy people.

If you have any energy of self-loathing as a result of this experience, rest assured you will have experiences that affirm self-loathing.

Everything that is challenging you right now, stems from life lessons you have yet to master; It is Karma playing itself out.

How you respond energetically to your circumstances shows if you learned your lessons and whether the Universe is going to keep giving you a shit sandwich or not.

So let's touch on acceptance and forgiveness: The never-wrong responses to Karmic debts.

It is not surprising that these are often the spiritual answer to the most challenging situations.

Acceptance and forgiveness are options WE can take to keep our power and garner the lessons we are supposed to learn.

When done at an energetic level, acceptance and forgiveness are a release of all the bad shit we carry around with us.

There are very few karmic lessons that carry-on after you make peace with them.

So between the two, acceptance comes first.

You can't forgive something without accepting it.

Acceptance in my book, means an ability to look at something and have no charge to it emotionally.

You are neutral, meaning you are not swayed one way or another: You are perfectly comfortable with it being what it is.

Acceptance is the coming to terms with reality and remaining balanced and collected, despite it being what it is.

Forgiveness comes after acceptance, when you actually let "it" go (it stops clouding your consciousness) without judgement or anger. You might actually be able to offer compassion for it, too.

These are advanced spiritual skills here, definitely not for the weak.

A simple start to acceptance and forgiveness is to ask yourself GOOD questions. Have an HONEST conversation with yourself.

  • WHAT (event, circumstance) have you not forgiven in your life?

  • WHAT (event, circumstance) have you not accepted in your life?

  • Why have you not accepted/forgiven them/it?

  • WHO have you not forgiven?

  • HOW did you manage these feelings instead?

  • WHEN did I last forgive, if ever?

  • WHEN did I last practice full acceptance, if ever?

While this is a logic-based activity to start, it helps to bring it to your awareness.

What you bring out of the unconscious and into the conscious, becomes something you can ACTUALLY work with.

From there, perception starts to shift: Circumstances start to take on new light.

As my spiritual teacher Wendy says "Notice, Allow, and Accept."

You cannot rush this process, you can only uncover it.

I hope this forms a good start to help you do just that.
