Changing your beliefs is Life-Threatening

If you have limiting beliefs, you have likely built your life based on them.

Ever wonder why changing limiting beliefs is so hard?

It is because you literally fashioned your entire life based on them!!!!

So imagine trying to change them now -- It means everything in your life connected to those beliefs has to change.

So let's make an example:

Let's say Sue has a fundamental belief that she is not able to make more money than her parents did - Which is minimum wage.

Sue doesn't like this belief (we honestly wouldn't like most of our beliefs if we brought them into light), but it is what is familiar to her.

Following this belief, Sue chose a life that supports this belief.

Sue chose to not go to college, got a job that pays minimum wage, lives with two room mates and skimps on anything that might potentially bring her joy based on cost. She might've chosen a partner who is also at the same economic level as what is familiar to her.

(I have painted a very basic bird's eye view of Sue, I know it is very generic but stick with me, folks.)

So then what if Sue now realizes the wiring that is underneath her decision-making and she now wants to work on changing that belief pattern.

The NEW belief Sue chooses to have is that she can make as much money as she chooses.

Well, this now means that there is a requirement to ACT on that belief.

It might cause a complete overhaul of her current life.

She might end up having to get a new job or even move for one that supplies her greater opportunity.

Or

Going to college and getting a lucrative trade.

Or

Moving to a place she can afford on her own.

Or

Challenging the status quo of the finances within her relationship.

NONE of this is comfortable.

It is absolutely a collapse of the life you know. And this is just ONE belief that she is trying to change.

Let's be honest, this is a super uncomfortable process.

Another example:

Let's say someone has a deeply ingrained belief that they are unwanted, perhaps from childhood neglect.

They might've chosen a relationship dynamic that proves this belief of being unwanted. They might have chosen to alienate themselves from their family or avoid making friendships. They might choose a job in which they can stay in the background and avoid recognition.

What happens if this person decides to believe they love themselves and their presence is cherished by others?

They might open themselves up to meeting new people.

Or

Ditch that relationship.

Or

Get a new job that requires them act publicly.

Or

Develop a relationship with family in which they have much more accountability to them.

This is all HELLA uncomfortable.

If someone becomes aware enough of a limiting belief to choose a DIFFERENT belief...

There are definite challenges that come with that.

Once you outgrow a limiting belief, you outgrow the environment that supports it as well.

And not just physical either - My examples above mainly highlighted PHYSICAL changes such as job or relationship.

But there is a shift that takes place WITHIN you that feels uncomfortable too!

Suddenly CHOOSING to believe you're worthy, loved, abundant, and special, will trigger your inner critic and cause internal polarization within you.

Parts that need healing may come up that you weren't even aware of.

When you put all of this together, it absolutely makes sense as to why some people fear changing their beliefs: It is hard to anticipate the changes that will come with it.

Because change will come.

I am here to tell you that it is absolutely worth it and the first place to start is with acknowledging just that:

That change WILL come.

And you have choices in that change just as you chose this new belief.

Usually these changes, although the transition period is rough, are always a level up.

It is a level up and literally the definition of a metamorphosis of cocoon to butterfly level.

Your life always grows when you expand your consciousness, I can promise you that.

Your life as you know is is threatened by change once you change your fundamental beliefs, yes.

The threat is to the old paradigms, the old patterns, the old ways of doing things and yes, the old Ego- You know, the part of you that was holding onto that belief to keep the story you had about yourself alive.

This "threat" is one of expansion or evolution.
